The Minister of Health of Catalonia, Alba Vergés, and the Director General for Research and Innovation of the Department of Health, Robert Fabregat, today visited Rob Surgical to see in person the new Bitrack System that improves the efficiency of robotised minimally invasive surgery

Vergés held a meeting with the company's founding team: Dr Alícia Casals, president of the board of directors and chair at the Polytechnic University of Catalonia (UPC); Dr Josep Amat, technical-scientific director and chair at UPC; Dr Manel Frigola, member of the board; Jaume Amat, CEO; Arnau Figueras, business angel investor and Gerard Sanchez-Lafuente, family office investor.

The minister later watched a surgical operation led by Dr Lluís Peri, urologist at Hospital Clínic de Barcelona, demonstrating that Bitrack is a flexible, modular and open system for general, urological, colon and rectal and gynaecological surgery. The operation was carried out in the CRO Specipig operating theatre.

Jaume Amat, CEO of the company and president of CataloniaBio & HealthTech, explained that the value of Bitrack lies in "its high precision benefiting the patient, greater usability benefiting the surgeon and a significant reduction in the total cost benefiting the hospitals?.

The minister highlighted "the value of the Bitrack, designed and developed in Barcelona, and she is confident that once Bitrack obtains the European certification it will be able toreach the public hospitals."

Bitrack is in the process of obtaining European Commission marking and last September received an investment of 5 million euros from Scranton Enterprises.
